Thank You and Goodbye

June 27th, 2009 by Justin Chang

It’s sudden, but it’s been a long time coming. Running and writing for Technoleet has been a fulfilling experience for me, and for all of us here. It’s hard to believe that this is the 151st post. But unfortunately for us, life calls, and without its writers Technoleet is just an empty shell.

So thanks for sticking with us, and even thanks to the link spammers that we’ve laughed at. Especially you, whoever is posting links for HOT FRESH RUSSIAN GIRLS. I crack up every time I delete your comments.

If you want to follow me and keep on reading my tech views (in case you don’t get enough sarcasm or ranting in your life), I will be starting a new blog at http://therocketpanda.blogspot.com.

Thanks again for the support, and for reading - from all of us at Technoleet.

The Last Airbender Movie

Earlier this week, the official trailer for The Last Airbender movie was finally released. Based off of the Nickelodeon original anime series Avatar: The Last Airbender, the story follows the fate of a peaceful world balanced by the four nations (Earth, Fire, Water, Air) as it is disturbed by an evil Fire Nation. Only the Avatar, who can control all four elements can stop the Fire Nation from wreaking havoc and taking over the world.

The storyline develops as a coming-of-age story as it is revealed to a young Aang that he is the Chosen One (surprise, surprise). Aang and his friends must journey to discover their powers within to bring peace back to the land once and for all.

Expected to hit theaters Summer 2010, this movie has already gathered an onslaught of attention from Avatar fans and movie analysts alike, but not for the best reasons its writers and producers might have hoped.

1 Minute Movie Review: Transformers 2

I think this summarizes the movie up pretty well.
I think this summarizes the movie up pretty well.

First things first. There are only two things that you will care about in this movie. One will be the explosions, and the other will be Megan Fox. If you don’t care about either, then don’t bother. If you do care about both, then you’re in for a treat since for most of the movie you’re either looking at shit blow up, or looking at Megan Fox’s exquisite…er…assets.

Plot? Not relevant. Pacing? I think the explosions are spaced out pretty evenly thoughout the movie. Character development? LOL..riight. CG? Enough to give you a headache (which it did). Action? Oh yea, you’ll get your money’s worth.

Oh come on, like you’ll seriously watch My Sister’s Keeper over Transformers 2? Just go spend your money and watch this mindless but thrilling summer action flick. This ain’t no Dark Knight, but dollar for dollar Transformers 2 will offer the best thrill per buck.

Also, it it me or did this movie seem like one giant advertising campaign to join the US military? I have a sudden urge to invade small nations now…

Go Go PSP Go?

pspgo

How about we rename it the PSP No? Yea, I think it would be a more fitting name for a product that’s as half-baked as the PSP Go. You see Sony, the main problem with the PSP was not it’s useless UMD drive, its multimedia uselessness, or its horrible analog nub. No, it was the lack of compelling games. The rest of the crap just made the PSP even more unappealing, and yet in the PSP Go you managed to keep almost all of the things that made the PSP annoying, and still not address the lack of decent third-party games.

Way to go Sony. Just when I thought you guys were waking up to reality, you go ahead and do this.

I <3 China: The Blockberry

Blockberry luls

Leave it to the Chinese to come up with my next favorite must-have phone on the market - the Blockberry 9500! They even got Obama to be their product spokesman! Wow, I want to be cool and presidential, just like the first black President of America. I hear he uses the Blackberry all the time. And check out all the cool colors - purple, black, gray, silver, red, and even gold! Where in the world can I get my hands on this??

You’ve got to be a fool to not fall in love with this state-of-the-art technology. Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, the phone also features a 460 MHz processor, a 3.2-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and support for 3G and EDGE networks. The price tag is undoubtedly amazing, and no one will be able to tell the difference! The backwards Blackberry logo is impeccably unnoticeable. What more can I possibly say!

Tech Critique: Bing!

bing

I really wanted to hate Microsoft’s revamped search engine. From the name to its layout, I just didn’t want to like it. To my surprise though, bing.com isn’t only a decent search engine, it’s actually is as good as Google. Yea, I said it. As good as Google. Of course there’s a few things that Bing doesn’t really do too well, and a lot of things that it shamelessly copies from it’s famous competitor. But you get down to the nitty-gritty of slogging through search terms and links, Bing has got it down.

The New Hajime no Ippo

It’s been some time since the ending of the first series of Hajime no Ippo. After two movies and many years later they’ve decided to bring back the successful series with the same dazzle and sparkle as it once did in the early part of the decade.

For those that aren’t too familiar with Hajime no Ippo, here’s some quick background info, it’s a series about a boy, Ippo, who decides to discover what true strength is. He stumbles upon the world of boxing and along his journey he befriends many different people and rivals. For those who haven’t seen the first series I highly recommend it. I was pretty skeptical about the new sequel, but gee golly they had a lot in store for the fans.

Project Natal

Now that E3 is over, it’s clear where the Big Three of gaming think the future of video games is headed. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo showed off these techs behind closed doors, and all three work as promised. So there’s only one remaining question; Which one of these techs are still going to be standing over the others a few years from now?

So let’s look past all the rhetoric, and get down to the realities behind these ambitious technologies.

Nintendo E3 2009

E3 - the biggest gaming expo of the season, and Nintendo somehow just doesn’t manage to impress. As one of the Big 3, you’d think they’d have something more exciting to offer, right? But in the jumble of press conference jargon and new game releases, there was.. nothing. Okay - barely anything worth getting exciting over. Not even the jokes.

I guess new quality technology can’t be pumping out every year, but come on, Nintendo. The competition is big!

E3: Sony’s Response

What a year it will be for Sony, after its press conference this morning they have a lot to offer to the consumer. There was so much presented in short amount of time, I had my mind blown. The first thing that Sony wanted to make clear; “Not exclusive, only possible,” and this seemed to be the underlining theme of everything they presented. After Microsoft’s strong press conference, Sony ran out guns ablaze ready for the upcoming years.
